Next month Craig Smith and I are running a workshop as part of the Agile Australia 2012 conference in Melbourne. The workshops are being held the day prior to the conference and focus on a range of topics for beginner and expert Agile practitioners.
We organised a number of games for a recent Agile Academy meetup. Games are a great way to accelerate learning and introduce fun into the workplace. There are heaps of different games that provide a way of teaching Agile and Lean concepts.
Craig Aspinall and Steve Dalton recorded an episode at the Ennova office in Brisbane with Hugh, Lucas and Adrian. We discussed a range of topics including Startups, code quality, offshore development, business models and many other topics.
Large scale construction projects suffer from cost and time overruns that are typically a symptom of productivity problems and directly affect overall industry profitability. As a result, methodologies have been developed to reduce the risk of overruns and improve project outcomes. A number of these methods are based upon Lean production principles that focus on identifying value, eliminating waste and creating a smooth flow of materials, information and work. The application of Lean to construction is based upon treating the construction site as a temporary production line and is referred to as Lean Construction.
Craig Smith and I will be presenting at STANZ 2011 on The Future Tester at Suncorp: A Journey of Building Quality In Through Agile in Melbourne, Australia. Our presentation is based around work that we have been doing at Suncorp to improve testing capability, skills and approaches. We also included some of the work we've done at Ennova on Agile Test Strategies.
Craig Smith and I presented Accelerating the Speed To Cool On The Road To Building Quality In at Agile2011 in Salt Lake City. The talk is based around work that we have been doing at Suncorp to improve testing capability, skills and approaches. We also included some of the work we've done at Ennova on Agile Test Strategies.
Ennova has been selected as a GoodData solution provider to help deliver their Cloud Business Intelligence Platform to market.
At Ennova we’ve been working hard at building the values, principles and practices of Agile and Lean Construction into Envision. Ennova has partnered with the Agile Academy to promote Agile and Lean through training, consultancy and coaching.
WorkFace Planning is an activity that involves the creation of small, well defined, field installation Work Packages that support the construction workforce. A typical Work Package supports one rotation (5 to 10 days) of a work crew and is based on activities that are extracted directly from the construction schedule/plan. Each Work Package has a standard list of requirements that must be satisfied before the work is released for execution.
Agile2011 is the premier conference on software agility and what is happening in the world of software development. This year marks 10 years since the Agile Manifesto was authored and to celebrate the conference is being held in Utah Salt Lake City where it all began.
We have recently adopted the practice of creating a Test Strategy for all our Ruby on Rails projects. This approach ensures that there is a shared understanding of verification and validation activities and is based on a template that we will be discussing at RubyConf India.
Craig Aspinall and Steve Dalton run the podcast Coding By Numbers which is a great podcast covering heaps of interesting topics. The guys also run a Meetup Group in Brisbane focusing on development related topics with the next topic being Io and Clojure.
The Agile Australia conference is held annually over two days and is jam-packed with insights from Agile experts, industry practitioner case-studies and adoption challenges from beginners. This year I will be presenting on Agile for StartUps. The overview is included below:
Ennova is a sponsor for this year's RubyConf India and has had a presentation accepted. One of our Senior developers Bhavin Javia will be presenting on the topic Software Quality and Test Strategies for Ruby and Rails Applications.
Ennova has been working closely with the Agile Academy to create a series of short instructional videos focused on specific Agile practices. The videos provide an excellent introduction to many of the key Agile practices.
Ennova are pleased to announce that they have partnered with the Agile Academy to deliver a range of Agile and Lean related training courses.
Very few of the construction projects that I have worked on or come in contact with have utilised 4D. Nearly every project these days has a 3D model for design, but not a 4D model. Why is 4D not yet the norm for construction? Is this because 4D modelling for construction planning is too difficult and expensive?
Downer EDI Engineering has once again engaged Ennova to develop a high quality 3D animation of a complex construction project. For this project Ennova developed an animation of the disassembly method used for large overhead gantry cranes. The benefit of these animations is that it provides technical and site staff with a consistent understanding of the methodology. This results in improvements in site efficiency and personnel safety.
Suncorp has selected Ennova to provide in-house Agile Coaching and Mentoring of software development teams. This assignment represents our second client requiring support with an Agile implementation and clearly indicates the growing acceptance of Agile as a superior methodology for the delivery of ICT projects.
